Auto save Users Name, Email, Phone and ...
This tutorial explains how the User Input Node works in Elpidan and how it can collect typed responses from users and store them in contact fields. It is one of the main tools for data collection inside automated conversations.

In this tutorial, we’ll explore the User Input Node and understand how it works.
The User Input Node is used to ask a question and save a user’s response into a Field, automatically in Flows.
What is Fields in Elpidan
Before using the User Input Node, it is helpful to understand what fields is.
Fields are used to store actual user data, such as name, email, phone number, score, or any other value you want to save for later use in your flows.
👉If you want to review the available fields or create additional custom fields, go to the Custom Fields Menu
The User Input Node asks the user for information such as an email address, waits for their response, and automatically stores that response in the selected field.
This node is essential for:
- Lead qualification
- Collecting contact details (name, address, phone, email, …)
- Understanding user intent
- Personalizing future messages
Let’s open the User Input Node.
When you click on it, there are three main steps to configure.
Step 1: Enter the Prompt Message:
This is the question or instruction the user will see.
For example: “Please enter your email address.”
Step 2: Choose the Field to Store:
You must select the field where the user’s response will be saved.
For example, if you ask for an email address, you must store it in the predefined “email” internal field.
Without selecting a field, the system cannot save the response.
Supported field types for User Input are:
Text
Number
Date
Step 3: The Cancel button:
If you enable “Show cancel button,” the user will see a Cancel button under the prompt while the system is waiting for their reply
If the user taps Cancel, it means they want to stop completing this step.
You can customize:
- The Cancel button caption
- The cancellation confirmation message
- The Yes and No button captions
If the user choose Yes and confirms the cancellation, the input is canceled and the flow stops.
If the user chooses No, the same question is shown again and the system continues waiting for their response
Now let’s understand what happens during execution.
When the flow reaches the User Input Node:
- The prompt message is sent
- The flow pauses
- And waits for the user’s reply for up to five minutes
If no response is received within five minutes, the input is automatically canceled and the flow stops
If the user replies within that time, the answer is saved in the selected field and the flow continues to the next connected node
Another important point:
By default, if the selected field already contains a value, the new input will overwrite the previous value
