Draft & Published Flows

Elpidan uses a Draft & Published system to help you build and edit flows safely without affecting live user experiences.

When you create a new flow, it is in Draft mode by default.
Draft mode allows you to work on a flow before it goes live.

Working with Draft flows

While a flow is still incomplete, you can click Save to keep it as a draft.

This allows you to:

  • Save your progress without publishing
  • Leave the flow unfinished and come back later
  • Continue editing the flow at any time

Draft flows do not run for users and do not trigger any automation.

Publishing a Draft flow

Once your flow is complete and ready to use, you can click Publish Draft.

After publishing:

  • The flow becomes live and active
  • Triggers start working
  • Users can enter the flow based on its triggers

 Viewing Published Flows

When you open a flow from the Flows list, it opens in Published mode by default.

  • The status at the top shows Published
  • In this mode, the flow is read-only
  • You can review the logic, messages, and connections

 Editing Published Flows

If you want to edit a flow that is already published and active, click the Edit button.

When you start editing a published flow:

  • Elpidan creates a draft version of the published flow
  • This copy opens in Draft mode
  • The original published version continues running for users

At this point, the flow has two versions:

  • Published version – currently active and visible to users
  • Draft version – where you can safely make changes

Working with the Draft version

While editing the draft:

  • You can make any changes you need
  • You can click Save at any time to save your progress in Draft mode
  • Saving does not affect users or live automation

Users will continue to experience the published version until the draft is published.

Publishing the Draft

Once you finish editing and are ready to apply the changes:

  • Click Publish Draft
  • The draft version replaces the published version
  • The updated flow becomes active immediately

From that point on, users will interact with the new version of the flow.

This approach lets you improve and iterate on flows safely without interrupting live user experiences.

Draft Mode Features

Viewing the Published Version

While working on a draft, you can compare it with the live version.

  • Click View Published
  • The published flow opens in read-only mode
  • You can switch back to the draft at any time

This is useful to:

  • Review what has changed
  • Verify updates before publishing

Reverting to the Published Version

If you decide to discard all draft changes:

  • Click Revert to Published

What happens:

  • The draft is reset to match the published version
  • All unsaved and saved draft changes are removed
  • The published flow remains unchanged

Use this when:

  • You made a mistake
  • You want to start editing from scratch

Discarding Draft Changes

You can also discard the current draft state:

  • Click Discard Draft

This removes the current draft and exits edit mode.
