Installing a template

When you install a template:

  1. A copy of the template is added to your Flows list
  2. The original template remains unchanged
  3. You gain full control over the copied flow

Important:

  • Templates are not live immediately
  • Installed templates start in Draft mode

Templates are powerful, but misuse can cause automation issues.

Best practices for working with templates

1) Treat templates as blueprints

Templates show how, not what.

Always:

  • Adapt logic to your business
  • Adjust timing and messaging
  • Remove unnecessary steps

2) Avoid publishing multiple templates blindly

Publishing many templates without review can lead to:

  • Trigger conflicts
  • Duplicate replies
  • User confusion

Always check:

  • Trigger overlap
  • Tag logic
  • Entry points

3) Use templates to learn structure

Templates are an excellent way to:

  • Understand flow patterns
  • Learn best practices
  • Discover reusable logic

After installing a few templates, you should start building custom flows confidently.

4) Keep templates updated over time

Once a template is customized and published:

  • Review performance
  • Update messaging when needed
  • Adjust logic as Instagram rules change

Avoid “set and forget” automation.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Publishing templates without editing
  • Leaving placeholder text unchanged
  • Ignoring tag and field naming conflicts
  • Using templates as final solutions

Templates should save time, not create hidden problems.
