Billing and Subscription FAQs

The difference between Elpidan plans is the number of Monthly Active Contacts Unlike contact-based pricing models, you are only charged for real monthly engagement. That’s exactly why we use Monthly Active Contacts (MAC) instead of counting every contact in your database.

What is Monthly Active Contact (MAC)

A Monthly Active Contact (MAC) is any Instagram user you actually have a conversation with during a billing month.

A Contact becomes a Monthly Active Contacts if:

They send you a direct message

A contact becomes active when they start a direct conversation with you.

They reply to your story

Story replies count as real engagement and are included in your monthly active contact total.

You send them a DM

Manual outreach and automation-triggered DMs both count toward real monthly engagement.

Notes:

Comments don't count by default
Comments only count as active contacts when a comment launches an automated flow that sends that person a direct message.

One active contact per month
Once someone becomes active in a given month, they count as one MAC for that entire billing cycle, no matter how many messages are exchanged

The count resets each billing month
At the beginning of every new billing month, only people who engage again will be counted as active contacts.

You only pay for real conversations
This keeps pricing tied to actual engagement rather than inactive followers sitting in your inbox

What happens if you go over your active contact limit?

Each plan includes a set number of monthly Active Contacts. If you go over your plan's limits, your automations won't shut off, you'll simply be charged a small overage fee for each additional Active Contact that month. Active Contacts are calculated monthly on both monthly and annual plans, and any overages are billed monthly.

Can I switch between monthly and annual billing?

Yes. You can change your billing cycle, but the timing depends on your current subscription.

Switching from monthly to annual billing:
You can move to annual billing at any time. If you have unused time left on your current monthly plan, its remaining value will be applied as a credit toward your annual payment.

Switching from annual to monthly billing:
If you are currently on an annual plan, the switch to monthly billing will take effect after your annual subscription term ends.

When exactly does my billing cycle start and end?

Your billing cycle starts on the date you subscribe and renews on that same date each month, or each year if you are on annual billing.

For example, if your subscription starts on the 15th, your monthly billing cycle will run from the 15th of that month until the 14th of the following month.

Annual plans follow the same logic. Your subscription renews on the same calendar date each year.

Can I upgrade my plan?

Yes. You can upgrade your plan at any time, whether you are on monthly or annual billing.

When you upgrade:

  • Your new plan takes effect immediately
  • You are charged for the new plan right away
  • Any unused value from your current plan is prorated and applied as a credit toward the upgrade

In other words, you only pay the difference when moving to a higher plan.

Can I downgrade my plan?

Yes, but the effective date depends on your billing cycle.

  • Monthly plans: The downgrade takes effect at the start of your next billing period
  • Annual plans: The downgrade takes effect after your current annual term ends

Until the downgrade becomes active, you will continue to have access to your current plan and its features.

How does pricing work if you  are managing multiple Elpidan accounts?

You can manage multiple Elpidan accounts, and each account is billed separately.

Pricing is applied per account, not per user. This means each account has its own:

  • Subscription plan
  • Active Contact limit
  • User and Inbox seat limits
  • Billing details

This gives you the flexibility to choose the right plan for each account based on its needs.

Where can I see my current plan details and usage?

You can view your plan details at any time in Settings.

There, you can:

  • See your Active Contact limit and current usage
  • View your billing details and invoices
  • Upgrade, downgrade, or otherwise manage your subscription

Settings is the main place to monitor your plan and keep track of account usage.
